Justice Not Served

Personally, I believe that if you attempt to rob a pharmacy at gunpoint, you forfeit all of your rights of protection, and you should be held solely responsible for the consequences resulting from your actions. In my opinion, justice was not served today.

A solemn jury found Oklahoma City pharmacist Jerome Jay Ersland guilty of first-degree murder today in the fatal shooting of a robber two years ago.

  2. According to a New York Times article -

Huron Hospital, one of the last remaining institutions in the impoverished neighborhood of East Cleveland, announced on Monday that it would close the 211-bed hospital, opening a much smaller family health center in its place.

According to the same article, the clinic’s announcement was quickly followed by denunciations from community leaders who say they are worried about health systems choosing to rid themselves of hospitals in communities of the greatest need.

What I want to know is where do these "leaders" get their sense of entitlement?

Leaders of the impoverished neighborhood that Mr. Ersland's Pharmacy served did nothing when Mr. Ersland's pharmacy was robbed on numerous occasions, and then turned their back on him when he had to take matters into his own hands.

What kind of crazy healthcare professional would want to serve a "community in need" when that same community sees them as the enemy? I say these communities reaping what they've sown.

  3. Former pharmacist Jerome Jay Ersland has lost his first appeal of his murder conviction. But, in an ironic twist of justice, the appeals court did reverse the first-degree murder conviction of one of the two longtime felons accused of planning the robbery.
