Making A Deal With The Devil

"The Collector" is a Canadian supernatural television drama about a soul-collector (Morgan) who gets permission from the Devil to try to save the souls of his "Clients" during their last 48 hours on earth.

Morgan Pym looks 30, but was born in 1322 AD, a monk who sold his soul to cure the woman he loved of Plague. But when his deal ended 10 years later (as all deals with the Devil do), his beloved died, and Morgan went to work for the Devil collecting souls, rather than go to Hell himself.

Six centuries later, Morgan begins to rediscover his own humanity, and makes a new deal with the Devil, which allows him to try to help his clients make amends for the bad luck caused by their bargain. Morgan and his clients are bound never to reveal the true nature of their situation to anyone else. Revealing the truth to an innocent results in both parties being sent to Hell.

A woman turns to prescription medication as a way of handling her anxiety concerning her husband's upcoming release from prison. Side Effects is a prescription-drug-gone-wrong thriller about Emily and Martin, a successful New York couple whose world unravels when a new drug prescribed by Emily's psychiatrist -- intended to treat anxiety -- has unexpected side effects. Go figure.

"Whoever makes this drug is going to be rich," remarks Mara's husband, right before the apparent dark side of the prescription is revealed.

In the late nineteenth century Jack the Ripper roamed the foggy streets of London, spreading fear and creating a legend of horror. But at the same time, in another great city located on the other side of the Atlantic, an equally cunning killer was claiming his victims.

Sporting a stylish walrus mustache and a fashionable fedora, H. H. Holmes built a castle of horrors in upscale Englewood, Illinois, just south of Chicago. His good looks and charm were well-known, but his sterling local reputation soon succumbed to international infamy once his horrific deeds were uncovered. While he confessed to 27 murders, of which four were confirmed, his actual body count was estimated to be as high as 200 victims.

H.H. Holmes, trusted neighborhood pharmacist, became known as America's first serial killer.

The Pharmacist

Spencer's a narcoleptic. Ten years ago he fell asleep and something very, very bad happened and he's been afraid to live ever since.

But his safe, repetitive life has evolved into a rut that's beginning to feel an awful lot like a grave. And so Spencer decides to die. That's when a dear friend reminds him that, if he's going to die soon anyway, he might as well go crazy first.

An independent Canadian film, The Pharmacist is about a man who can't find anything to live for until he finds someone to die for.
